CRT held a Dialogue on Poverty on Saturday, April 1st
at their main office in
Hartford. Over sixty advocates, providers, members of the private sector,
and area residents came together to share their experiences with poverty and
discuss ways to ensure self-sufficiency for everyone in the region.
Congressman John Larson was the keynote speaker. He talked
about the importance of bridging the Digital Divide in Rep.
John Geragosian with Theresa Nicholson
Connecticut
- the division of computer use and internet access along income, racial, gender,
and geographic lines - to ensure that all children will be able to take part in the emerging high-tech
economy.
Also in attendance at the forum were Representative David Pudlin, Majority Leader, Connecticut House of Representatives; Representative Barnaby Horton, Hartford; Representative John Geragosian, New Britain; and Hartford Councilwoman Elizabeth Horton-Sheff.

Horton-Sheff recommended that Hartford utilize its existing talent in the completion of the Adriaen's Landing project. She suggested hiring city residents for construction jobs and commissioning them for the decoration of completed buildings and shops.
