Mission

The mission of the Connecticut Association for Community Action, Inc. (CAFCA) is to strengthen the capacity of our members to empower people in need and improve the communities in which they live. 


Vision

CAFCA is committed to serving Connecticut’s low and moderate income children and families in communities across the state.  Through our strong partnership with the state Department of Social Services (DSS), community-based organizations, national partners, and other state associations across New England and the country, we engage all sectors of our communities, including low income citizens, to play a role in addressing poverty in Connecticut.

 

CAFCA strives to serve its nine member Community Action Agencies (CAAs) through capacity building, Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA), information dissemination on state and national initiatives, legislative advocacy (local, state and federal), state and regional conferences and events, and information technology support. 

 

CAFCA’s powerful data reporting method utilizes a Results Based Accountability (RBA) framework called Results Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA).  This allows Connecticut’s CAAs to efficiently and effectively measure meaningful customer, agency, and community outcomes and results, and is used in CAFCA’s annual report each year.  Through these initiatives, CAFCA has positioned itself as a recognized leader for providing communities, families and individuals with the skills and opportunities required for economic success and self-sufficiency.
