Charter Oak College Women in Transition Program
Application Deadline: July 15, 2000
Charter Oak has created the Women in Transition Program for women who are in low-paying jobs and need a college degree to advance and increase their earning capacity. The program is particularly targeted at women who have received AFDC benefits and are now working. To be eligible, the program applicant should already have earned at least 15 college credits.
Program participants will receive academic advisement and assistance in designing a degree that meets her academic and career goals. On-going assistance will be provided for the selection of appropriate means to earn credits. In addition, the program will provide the student with computer resources including Internet access, so she can communicate with her advisor and can take online courses. This will allow the student to learn at home, making it easier to combine work and family with education. Financial aid will be available to defray the costs of tuition and fees for enrollment in Charter Oak and courses at other colleges.
