ABC: Automated Benefits Calculator

CAFCA's Automatic Benefits Calculator is being updated and is currently unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience. The ABC will return as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

What is the ABC Calculator?

The ABC Calculator was created to help people in Connecticut easily find out what State and Federal programs they MAY be eligible for. By simply taking a few minutes and answering some anonymous questions regarding yourself, your family ,others who may live in your home, the ABC Calculator will be able to determine what programs and benefits you are potentially eligible for and how you can go about applying for those programs.

Will I definitely qualify for the programs that this calculator determines I am eligible for?

No. This calculator is meant as a pre-screening tool to show you what programs you MAY be eligible for. This does not determine exact eligibility.

If the ABC Calculator says I am not eligible for a program, will I still be able to apply to that program?

Yes. Just because the Calculator didn’t find you eligible for a program doesn’t mean you are not eligible. There are many factors that go into determining eligibility, so you are still encouraged to apply to all programs.

After I complete the ABC Calculator and am found eligible for a program, does that mean I have automatically applied for that program?

No. You still have to fill out the program’s specific application and give it to either your local Department of Social Services (DSS) office or your local Community Action Agency.

Where do I go to apply for these programs?

You can print out the application (if available) from your final report and then give it to your local Department of Social Services (DSS) office or your local Community Action Agency. You can find the contact information on your final report.

Do I have to be a certain age to use the ABC Calculator?

No. Anyone is able to use the ABC Calculator.

Are my answers confidential?

Yes. The information that you give us will not be shared or saved for any purposes. There is, however, an anonymous voluntary survey that we ask you to complete. The answers to this survey will be used for statistical purposes.
