Keeping Tabs on Federal Grant Funds: Key Considerations in Contracting for Services

August 5, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

,

Community Action Agencies are responsible for the federal grant funds they receive, whether they use those funds to perform grant-related services themselves or engage others outside the organization to do so. Because CAAs exercise less direct control over outside service providers than over their own staff, it’s important to choose service providers carefully and hold them accountable. This is even more true now with the infusion of significant CSBG and other federal funds under the CARES Act and the expected scrutiny those funds will bring. In this webinar, we’ll examine key considerations in – and answer your questions on – selecting, contracting with and managing outside service providers. In doing so, we’ll cover:

• Federal grant rules that apply to your CAA’s service provider relationships;
• Factors to use in deciding whether a service provider is a contractor or subgrantee;
• Key provisions to include in contracts and subgrant agreements; and
• Tips on administering relationships with service providers.

CAA executive directors, CFOs, senior managers, and other CAA staff responsible for managing service provider relationships are encouraged to attend.

Presenters:former CAPLAW Executive Director Eleanor Evans, Esq. of Hemenway & Barnes LLP. This webinar is sponsored by the Northeast Institute for Quality Community Action (NIQCA) with the support of the Connecticut Department of Social Services and with the assistance of the Connecticut Association for Community Action (CAFCA).
